Blanche Oelrichs, also known by her pen name Michael Strange, was an American poet, playwright, and actress. She was born on October 1, 1890, in Newport, Rhode Island, to a wealthy and prominent family. She married John Barrymore, a famous actor, in 1919, but they divorced in 1928. Blanche was known for her bohemian lifestyle and her rebellious nature, which was reflected in her poetry and plays. She was highly regarded as a writer and counted many famous authors and artists among her friends, including Tennessee Williams, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Gertrude Stein. Blanche suffered from mental health issues later in life and was institutionalized for several years. She died on November 5, 1950, in Lenox, Massachusetts, at the age of 60.
